See our self-service options
We have several options in self-service at the airport designed to make your travel easier and safer.
Service at the terminal
In the main shopping area, the Duty Free Store and Mathús (House of Food, self-service restaurant) are always open when flights are on schedule. Passengers can therefore be sure to always have access to some food service to either dine in or take away. Some shops are open in the mornings and in the afternoon depending on flight schedules. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.
It should be pointed out that Icelandair hands out water bottles to all passengers when boarding. On long-haul flights the airline serves food that has been packed under the strictest safety conditions. Passengers may take snacks with them from the air terminal.
Most means of transport are available, f.x. scheduled bus trips to Reykjavík, rental cars, taxi and strætó. Car rental operators have reduced their opening hours in the Air Terminal. We request that passengers intending to use such services to contact the car rental in question directly to find out about opening hours.
We encourage passengers to book parking slots on our website and receive a QR code sent to their phone to use to get in and out the gates. This will minimise physical contact when driving into and out of parking areas. Valet – car park services will be temporarily unavailable to ensure the safety of passengers and staff due to the Covid-19 virus. We encourage those who are dropping off or collecting passengers at the airport to take advantage of the fact that the first 15 minutes in short-term parking areas are free at departures and arrivals.
