749 thousand guests through Keflavík Airport in September

The fall of 2023 promises to continue the momentum from last summer. 748.842 guests made their way through Keflavík Airport in September 2023 which is a 15% increase from the same period last year.

Multiple airlines, both Icelandic and international, flew to 80 different destinations with Copenhagen, Boston, Paris, Amsterdam, and New York being the most popular.

Departures of Icelanders were about 47 thousand.

According to numbers from the Icelandic Tourist Board, departures of foreign passengers from the country via Keflavík Airport were 222,000 in September. This is the second-largest number of departures in September since the start of this data gathering.

Around a third of the departures in September were American guests, or 29,7% of all departures. Other significant nationalities in terms of numbers of guests were Germany, Poland, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
