EasyJet offers flights between Akureyri and London next winter
British airline easyJet has announced that it will start direct flights between Akureyri Airport and Gatwick Airport in London next winter. The first flight will be on October 31st 2023. There will be two flights a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays until March 2024.
Booking for flights between Gatwick and Akureyri have now been opened on the easyJet website. The airline is in collaboration with the travel agency easyJet Holidays, which will offer package tours to the Akureyri in the North of Iceland in connection with easyJet´s flights.
Sigrún Björk Jakobsdóttir, CEO of Isavia Regional Airports, welcomes the British airline´s decision. “It is a matter of great joy that easyJet has decided to start flight to Akureyri this winter. We welcome their passengers. It is especially nice to have this increased traffic now that the expansion to the Akureyri Airport terminal will be put into operation and all the construction works at the airport will be completed in spring 2024.”
