EasyJet opens new route between Basel and Keflavik International

EasyJet began operating a new route between Basel, Switzerland and Iceland, Wednesday, April 2nd. The carrier plans two flights per week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, till the end og September, and the company is contemplating to offer a year round service.

The new route is easyJet´s fifth route to Iceland and the first from mainland Europe. The company is the third largest operator at Keflavik International with service including daily flights to London.

The inauguration flight was celebrated in a traditional way with light refreshments and congratulations and good wishes by airport staff and operator Isavia.

First passenger to Basel with Captain Michael Gantner cut the ceremonial inauguration cake.

 

Captain Gantner and Guðny Maria Johannsdottir Chief of Development of the airport operator Isavia cut the ribbon to launch the new route.
