Keflavik Airport wins global service awards

Keflavik International Airport is one of the world‘s best airports for customer experience, according to the results of ACI‘s (Airport Council International) Airport Service Quality (ASQ) programme. The airport ranks among the top eight European airports that welcome between 5 to 15 million passengers per year.

Keflavik Airport has consistently been among the top European airports in the ASQ survey, ever since first participating in 2004. Last year, the airport was fourth in its category and now Keflavik is among the eight airports with the highest score. The other European airports in the size category to earn the ASQ Best Airport Award are Bergen Airport, Izmir Adnan Menderes International Airport, JSK International Airport Sochi, Malta International Airport, Newcastle International Airport and Porto Francisco sa Carneiro Airport.

ACI‘s Airport Service Quality programme (ASQ), is the world‘s leading airport customer experience measurement and benchmarking. The programme measures passengers‘ satisfaction across 34 key performance indicators. In 2019, 115 European airports were among the 356 worldwide participants. Keflavik is among 37 participating airports in its size and region. More than half of the world‘s 8.8 billion travellers passed through an ASQ airport last year.

“We are proud and pleased to hear that we managed to meet or even exceed our passengers’ expectations,” says Sveinbjörn Indriðason, Isavia CEO. “This award is above all the fruit of great cooperation. Passengers evaluate the service of all the airport’s staff; our team, the staff in the shops and restaurants, check-in, border control, and all other parts of the passengers’ journey. It is particularly pleasant to see that we have managed to withhold high quality service despite extensive construction and at times crowded conditions during peak hours in recent years.”

ACI has announced the results of the award winners, but the ASQ Awards Ceremony will be held in Kraków, Poland in September 2020 as part of the third ACI Customer Experience Global Summit.
