More than 500,000 passengers in July

Flybe started flying between Keflavik and Birmingham in the end of June.

This July was yet another record month for Keflavik International Airport, with 546,749 passengers. This is the first time the total passenger number exceeds 500,000 in one month. The increase is 17.8% compared to July last year. Since the beginning of 2014, a total of 2.2 million passengers have travelled through the airport, an increase of 20.2% since 2013. This summer 20 airlines have scheduled flights between Keflavik and 60 destinations.

To meet this progressive increase Isavia, the operator of Keflavik International, has made some investments to increase efficiency. Recently, the capacity of the baggage handling system has been doubled and the terminal is being extended by 5,000 square meters. The new extension will be put in use in 2016.
