Recognition for Services and Hygiene During the Pandemic

Keflavík Airport, along with 5 other airports, has been selected as one of the best airports in Europe in its size class in terms of service quality. Keflavík Airport is also among the group of 20 European airports receiving special recognition from the Airports Council International (ACI) for hygiene during the past year.

The ACI service survey, Airport Service Quality programme (ASQ), is the among the most respected measurements carried out on the service quality of airports. Passengers at airports throughout the world are asked standardised questions about service and experience. The comparison is therefore consistent and extensive, both between airports and between years.

Keflavík Airport has now been recognised for the second year in a row, both for service in its size class in Europe and for its hygiene and safety measures during a pandemic. The latter recognition was first awarded last year, when passengers’ experiences of airport safety and hygiene were measured and evaluated for measures taken at each airport as a result of the pandemic. Keflavík Airport was thought to have handled those issues exceptionally well last year. This is complemented by the fourth consecutive year of Keflavík Airport being recognised for the best service in its size class in Europe.

“It is the very good collaboration between Isavia’s staff and all operators at Keflavík Airport that has led to this great success. We have managed to keep a high service quality throughout the pandemic,” says Isavia’s Chief Commercial and Airport Development Officer, Guðmundur Daði Rúnarsson. “Our customers feel comfortable as they pass through our terminal, and I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate the entire Keflavík Airport team on this success.”
