Passengers are requested to arrive early due to heavy traffic through Keflavik International Airport
Heavy traffic before the first departures from Keflavík Airport may be expected until the end of October, when the summer season ends.
Passengers who are booked on flights departing between 07:00 and 09:00 are encouraged to come to the Airport at least 2.5 hours before departure to avoid having to wait longer during check-in and security screening. The check-in desk and security search opens at 04:00 every morning at Keflavík Airport.
The heavy traffic during this period can be traced to changes to the distribution of flights by aircraft operators and flights that were previously scheduled for later in the morning have been moved to this early period.
Passengers are also encouraged to familiarise themselves with the rules that apply to security screening and the manner in which it is best to organise their passage through the security check to make it smoother.
- fluids may only be included if each unit is 100 ml or less and the total volume may not exceed 1 litre.
- all fluids that are 100 ml or less are to be placed in a transparent zipper bag and placed in a tray when going through the security screening.
- laptops and other larger electronics are to be removed from your bag and placed in a tray.
